#1 – From Kanto to Pewter City.

The start of this journey started as every single pokemon journey begins. Walking through Route 1 to Viridian City.

The biggest decision I had was which starter to take. As I always tend to, I chose Bulbasaur, even with the amount of bug types I’m doing to meet in Viridian Forest, it’s great to have a grass type for the first two gyms I’m going to go to, Brock and Misty. I name the little guy Bud, because of the flower on his back.

I met Prof. Oaks grandson as well, Kaz. He was a prick. Arrogant as all hell.

Once I’d gotten my Pokédex from Oak as well, I was off. Onto route 1 where I got myself Rattata and a Pidgey, which I got onto my team straight away to help me along. I named them Tweety and Remy.

In Viridian City I stocked up on some necessaries, Potions, Pokéballs, Antidotes and the likes. Viridian Forest is riddled with Weedles and those things poison you if you’re not careful.

I wanted to check out victory road. I’ve heard it’d quite the sight, and I wanted to know what I was up against when I finally take it on, but lo and behold, Kaz was waiting for me. This fucking guy, honestly. I didn’t even want to battle but he started acting the tough guy and I couldn’t help myself. Now, I will admit, my pride maybe took over. This wasn’t really a fight I should have taken. He brought out a pretty strong Pidgey, and I’m ashamed to say it just flew through my entire team. I didn’t have anything to fight against a flying Pokémon, Tweety was too weak to be of any help, although she did put up quite a fight. The loss was hard enough, but good grief Kaz was insufferable afterwards. Next time we meet, i need to have an answer to his Pidgey.

Once I’d taken my team to a centre to heal them up, I didn’t fancy going to see victory road anymore for some reason, so just thought I’d get straight into Viridian Forest so I could get through to Pewter City and defeat Brock. I really wasn’t worried about this Rock Gym. Bulbasaur was kicking ass, we’re really started to understand each other, and I don’t see any rock Pokémon being as issue. As I was walking through the forest, I found myself a Weedle and a Caterpie, both of them very young and easy to catch. I went off the beaten track a little to see if I could find anything, and I did find a Metapod and a Kakuna which had fallen out of trees. Both of them we’re cold, which means the evolution inside of the pods hasn’t really gotten going yet and both their shells we’re very soft. I put them both in pokéballs to keep them safe, and decided to take them with me. Having a Butterfree and a Beedrill on the team is going to be great, and its way easier to catch them like this than when they’re fully grown.

As I carried on my journey, I felt the static in the air of an electric Pokémon, and I knew a Pikachu was near by. I knew they lived in the forest, but they were damn hard to catch. Pikachu’s are extremely secluded and secretive Pokémon, and seeing on out in the open of the forest is a rare sight. As I passed through a bush I saw him, a Pikachu on its own. As secretive as these Pokémon are, they’re also very social, and don’t tend to ever go out on their own, so this was pretty strange. I tried to approach it, but it was clear it didn’t want anything to do with me. I kept my distance but decided to stick around and watch it, to see if he was doing to be okay. For hours I stayed and watched and he didn’t join up with its pack, or really do anything. I think it was hurt. The last thing I wanted was to leave him to just die in the forest by itself, and I figured it was hurt it’d be easier to catch, so I took my shot and threw a ball at it. To my surprise, it worked! Pika was mine, and the first thing I did was get him to a centre to heal him up. Now he’s right as rain, but still doesn’t seem to like me very much. I’m going to keep working on him, though. I’ll bring him round.

As I got to Pewter city I pretty much went straight to the gym so I could get my Boulder Badge as quickly as possible. I got through Brocks lacky pretty quickly, he only had a Geodude and Bud made quick work of it. Once I made it to Brock, he wasn’t much harder. Bud can just get through rock types so easily now he’s learned Vine Whip. Bud pretty much one hitted Brock’s Onix, and that was that, I had my badge.

That’s everything I’ve gotten up to so far. It’s onto Cerulean City next to get my Water Badge.
